I'm with you Yeti, I really thought it was metal. I think it may have a plastic coating but the flange on top sure seems to be metal. I don't know though, I haven't bothered to really check it out.

I haven't done that yet. I just cleaned and lubed them for now.
As soon as the Delrin rod stock arrives, I'll make new bushings, then find out what needs to be done to remove the worn bushings.

I could be wrong on being just plastic then... mine were so torn apart I couldn't get them out the hinge fast enough! I didn't examine them too closely.

Jeeper posted pics earlier how to get them out... you can punch out from the bottom or if they are really messed up you can take a needle nose pliers from the top of the hinge and pick pieces out, that's what I had to do.

I just aplied quite a bit of White Lithium Grease and they work fine it just makes a good mess because i dont use the door nuts.

This is the exact reason I started the thread... without bushings my door makes clunking sounds over bumps. You can pull your doors off and check the condition of your bushings I guess.

Your clunk may be hinge related, but some plastic tape applied here usually fixes it, if the hinges are still good:
