Default Doors Off / On Scratches

I've got an 08 Black JK and I've got many chips in my paint on the edge of the door from taking the doors off and on.. Is there any type of protection for the edge of the door from that?

Thanks

i have them too, but i just deal with it...u could just buy some touch up paint from the dealer and dab some on there whenever u see scatches come up to prevent further chipping....but other than that it's gonna happen either wayso there's really nothing else imo

3m makes a clear protective film that you could apply to the subject area. It would be barely noticable and would prevent any abrasion on the paint.

Think of it like the clear "protector" covers for things like the "i-phone" or ipod etc.

Yup, the clear protector is in the same area as the cheeseball decals.

I bought some last year with the intention of protecting the hinges and door edges, but haven't gotten around to putting it on.

2 by 4 I always set my doors down on a piece of wood. My problem was the button on my pants. I've got little spiral scratches in my paint from the button and metal studs on my jeans. Using a towel to cover my doors when I carry them now.

Could be worse. I dented in the passenger door on my 2dr JK from my body pushing it in carrying. The metal is so thin. I also have a habit of scratching the body with the hinge pin trying to find that hole. The doors are wider than I was used to with previous Jeeps.

No problems with the half doors on my new Jeep though.

I always use a some blue painters tape on the edge. It's not bullet proof, but it is a little more forgiving than nothing at all. And. It comes right back off.

Default Good news about black

I guy I work with used to have a auto body shop on the side. He gave it up to be police officer. He told me when I got mine that Black Gloss Rustoleum is a touch up for any black vehicles. It's thick so it fills in chips, scratches, etc. Black is Black is Black. You don't have to worry about color matching. The Rustoleum also help prevent any rusting. I have used it on stone chips. I found it works great. And it's available at any hardware store for cheap money. One suggestion was use a Qtip or something small to avoid spreading it to where you don't need it.

Hope it helps.

Bestop makes Door Jackets that go on while the door is still on the jeep.
