I have experienced the door ding. It happens when 1 door isn't closed all the way and the auto lock kicks in.

Usually it shows "door" on the dash board when that happens.

I haven't heard the below 30 temp chime (if it exists)

Hey,

I had this happen a few times after driving a hour or so on the hwy when the auto tranny was in the 1500 rpm range for a while. It wasnt a hot or cold day, around 20 degrees Celsius. Anyhow, I thought that it too was do to the tranny heating up, possibly from being driven in that low RPM for that hour or so??

It is not the TPMS, nor is it the low fuel chime, or door chime. Those are different.

Also, some history here: When I bought the jeep brand new, within the first 40 kms, of extremely light driving, auto was in the 1500 rpm range, it overheated, blew a tranny hose, and spewed oil and smoke all over the road, until the transmision stoped moving the jeep. Stealership filled it back up with oil, and said the burnt out discs etc are no concern.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I'm still clueless about this mysterious "ding", and I'm sure many others are as well...

Here's my history with it..

The first time it happened I was doing a long steep hill climb, high elevation. I assumed at the time it was a tranny overheat, and I infact did get a tranny overheat code.

Give it a couple months and now the ding, or chime has reappeared... but now during normal driving conditions.. and a variety of conditions too. Happened on a cold drive to Edmonton, so I can safely say nothing is overheating.. No door chime, no fuel chime, no seatbelt chime.. I know all my chimes and sounds and this one is different. It's happened after driving for hours, and after driving for minutes. I HAVE noticed though that everytime i get the chime, or ding that a warning light VERY briefly flashes. It's in the bottom center area of the cluster, My guess is it's the sway bar disconnect light, or something VERY close to it. It flashes so briefly it's really hard to see what it is.

I mentioned this to my dealership, and the passed it off as nothing. The service guy said that if it was an overheat problem or other serious problem then the check engine light would come on. I even said I found a tranny overheat code at first, and he was surprised I even knew what that meant, not to mention even knew how to find it. So no luck there... of course.

Anybody else have new developments in their mysterious ding problems?

I'm starting to tell people that it's my Jeep's way of telling me it loves me

No codes, no overheating, no warning lights. Nothing. Just a ding.
It has not been solved yet.

Pull the codes. Key: Off => On (do not start) => Acc => On => Acc => On - wait a few seconds for the dials and gauges to stop and you will get any codes. Had the mysterious dings, but the codes always indicated what the problem was.
