Default Driving along today and heard a ding.

Driving to work this morning and heard a ding. No idiot lights came up. Just a ding. I'm pretty sure I heard it, but I could be wrong. I think I remember something about a warning ding and trans trouble? Does the ding and trans issue ring a bell with anyone? Will my trans crap out in the next few days?

No nothing happened. No fires, no burnt smell, no smoke. Maybe I didn't really hear it.

i've had the tranny ding a few times . As far as i know that is a high temp on the tranny fluid like you said. mine has dinged while on desert trips out here going uphill in well over 100 degree heat. just let it cool down and no probs after that

You'd think that an overheating transmission would warrant a bit more than a ding. If they have a sensor to get a ding, you'd think a message or light on the dash would be just as easy to have.

The mysterious ding has been discussed at length. Most of the time is is just that: a mystery.
No codes, no overheating, no warning lights. Nothing. Just a ding.
It has not been solved yet.

spartan99...thats strange. The same thing happened to me this morning driving down the road, however, I noticed it was the airbag light. It lit up for a second and then went out and it's not done it since. Anyway it was odd to read your post 'cause I've been thinking about the ding since it happened to me this morning.
