Default Dual top question

I have a 2009 wrangler that came with a hard top but then I took it off and bought a soft top. Now I have a hard top just sitting in my garage so i was wondering if I could put the hard top over the soft top even though it is not part of the dual top group. Thanks in advance

Wanna sell your hardtop? I'm in the market.

You can, but you will more than likely damage the soft top over time. Just look up "hard top dolly" on the forum, and build a dolly to store the hard top. Or get a hoist for $100 or so.

It doesn't matter if it is a "Dual Top Group" package or not. Both tops should not be on the Jeep at the same time. the only time both tops are on the Jeep at the same time is stowage from factory to dealer and dealer to home.

Yeah its that and you lose space that you really could use (especially on a 2-door).

There is a great thread on building a standing hard top rolling cart for the hard top and I built it in a few hours and $30. Awesome write up.

Agreed with the not a good idea responses, but I have to ask; what's the point of the soft top if you plan on putting the hard too back on over it?

It's easier to take on and off during the summer. And in Florida weather if it starts to poor you have some protection

No, I get the purpose of the soft top, but why put the hard top over it? The soft top is easy to remove and smaller to store when the hard top is on. Either way, you will have half the year where you need to store your hard top. I think I'm missing the initial point of your question.
