If I'm looking at that side there is the dipstick and then directly behind that is a plastic electrical connector...that the right thing? If so, how the hell do you get it out? I'm assuming it screws in?

Ok, I found it...on the side of the block...right side...underneath the heatshield behind the cat.

Replaced it with another and STILL the same issue. Do I just need to drive it and have the computer relearn?

If you mean you found it on the right side of the engine block, you found the wrong sensor.

The crankcase position sensor is on the right side of the bell housing.

I see #4, in the pic. Its location is unclear in the pic.

The item you suspect is the Crankshaft Position Sensor: Is it on the engine block, or on the bell housing?

I ask because the crankshaft position sensor is on the bell housing.

Most of what you are checking should throw a code, but one item that won't 'always' throw a code is a blocked injector. If you just changed engines (I think I read that) maybe you had some crap in the fuel line - have had this problem, let my tank go to 1/4 full and put in some injector cleaner and Heet to get any water out, run on the freeway for a few and could feel it clear itself.
Good luck - hope this helps?

check for a cracked exhaust manifold. this could cause your cats to become plugged.
