I am just curious, and a little dumb, Why and When should I turn off my ESP? I was driving on some dirt roads over the weekend and notice the light come a couple times but didn't feel any real slide? Help me out. and let me know if I missed a thread on this some where

There are no dumb questions :new: OK some...... (but not this one) ESP controls which wheel will get power, if one starts spinning ESP brakes to stop it from spinning, something I don't want when I am in the mud digging for solid ground under neath. ESP also takes away power as well when all wheels are spinning, so switching off the ESP will give me control back.

Basically when you are driving on dirt roads and the ESP light comes on it means that you are sliding and the car is trying to correct your slide (as you said already) the correction is probably too small to notice.

Although there are sequences you can use to switch off your ESP, it is never fully switched off. I have the Aerotech gauges which do allow you to switch off ESP completely.

Thanks. that helps some. guess I havent been in any spots where I need to hit that little button yet. at least that i am aware of.
