I haven't played with the ESP in my 12 yet, but in my 2010, you hold the ESP button for 5 secs and you hear a ding and see "ESP OFF" in the dash info read out. But you had to be in 4WD.

Search for steering wheel dance, there is a sequence that you can do to turn it off, not just temporary. I had to do this after my lift went on since my abs would activate going round on off ramps and such....

For some reason the manual does not list how but it does say there are three modes in 4H. On, Partial Off and Off. Partial of you press the button and it allows some spin, if you hold it down for about 7 seconds it will chime and a message will display saying that ESC is now off. Allows for the same thing as being in 4L where wheel spin is concerned. Some people have said that the computer will activate ESC if you travel over a certain speed, but I have traveled at 60km/h and no change.

This is in a 2012 JKU Sahara

And I'm way happier about this than doing a steering wheel dance. Not sure why it wasn't this way from the get go.

If you do the "steering wheel dance" it will completely turn it off in 2wd as well as 4H, the only way to turn it back on would be to do the "steering wheel dance" again.

Here is the link to the disable/enable tricks
