Since it's only a TSB, I wonder how many people have the problem but don't know it? I know many of us got the run around at the dealer (and I'm still not convienced that we still won't get the run around). Maybe some people just got frustrated and gave up.

If this is a known problem shouldn't there be a recall?

That has a really comical effect on non-responsive dealers. Mine pretended to not know about the throw out bearing problem and gave me crap about it until I whipped the TSB out of my pocket. He wouldn't even look at it - it was like kryptonite!

Recalls are for safety reasons. This is not a safety issue. It is a owner satisfaction issue.

But I will not be satisfied till mine is fixed.

Well I went to Spring Chrysler Jeep Dodge in Houston to get the TSB for the squeak and the Squeal, the G40 brake recall and the bad A/C fan.

Service writer got the shop foreman to ride with me. I let him hear the squeal of the clutch, the squeak of the throwout bearing and the wine of the AC fan.

He was a complete idiot. He said the TSB does not apply to my JK. He was to stupid to read the TSB's. He also said that the clutch was not bad that every one made the same noise.

I asked him then why was there a different part number for the replacement clutch. He just said that the TSB did not apply, the A/C fan was fine and nothing wrong with it (sounds like there is pine straw in the fan, but I pulled the fan and checked. The fan is going bad.)

The winner was the fact that the G40 recall notice "DID NOT APPLY TO YOUR JEEP". I can not believe that they are this stupid. I got the recall in the mail with my vin # on it. I checked the jeep web site. It was listed. I would think that they would at least punch the number in the computer to check it.

I left and went up the road to the Jeep dealer in Conroe Tx. They knew all about the throw out bearing and the clutch. They agreed that the AC fan was going bad and they ordered the parts right there on the spot. They will get all my business now.

SPRING Chrysler Jeep Dodge SUCKS. Their service department supervisor is an idiot. Stay away from them.

He-he. I love it! My dealer said the same thing when I complained about my brakes. Whenever I press on the brake pedal, there's a single clicking sound just as loud as the turn signal warning signal. "They all do it!", as if I'd just started driving (I'm 58 years old). One of these days I'll do a poll here and see how many others have it. Then take the results to him.

Back to the clutch: An unanswered question from above: Is this just an annoyance problem (mine is really not very annoying and I'd probably not have thought anything of it had I not read about here), or is there a related mechanical defect? I'm loathe to let the dealer tear into my otherwise perfectly working clutch.

The TSB doesn't indicate what the problem with the cluth disc is exactly but if you have the squeek as bad as I do, you would gladly surrender your jeep to the dealer for a chance to fix the problem.. If you aren't havin the issue, then i wouldn't touch it...

Mine just started to make this noise a couple of weeks ago. I am going to call my service department this week since it is time for my first oil change.
