Fluid Specs & levels
I started this thread to put many threads together.. for discussing fluid types for diff, transftercase, transsmission auto/manual and amounts to use.
I find many people asking what type of fluid to use and how much in each of the drivetrain compnents.
It would be nice to have some expert feedback as to the amount and types of oil to use.
That way when a person cant remember they can refer back to this thread for the info.
Examples:
Engine oil is standard but maybe a good idea to mention what you use.. I am using 5W30 Mobile 1 Synthetic
Transfercase Uses ATF-4 as for how much it takes to do the job, i dont know? to bottles maybe? what brand do you use?
Transmission 6sp dont know what to use? or how much ..?
Automatic.. how much to use and what type
I use 75W90 Synthetic in my diffs as for the amount i should add i couldent tell you what the specs are.
not even the dealer could tell me, very frustrating
i think its 2L in the rear and 1L in the front?
let'er rip

Anyone know how much the front or rear diff's take? How much fluid? I put 1.75L in my front diff and have fluid coming out of the breather tube at times so it's to much... 5:13 gears with riddler diff covers dana 44's

186 FBI (Model 30) 1.0 L (1.05 qts)
216 FBI (Model 44) 1.3 L (1.35 qts)
REAR AXLE ± .03 L (1 oz.)
198 RBI (Model 35) 1.83 L (1.9 qts)
226 RBI (Model 44) 2.25 L (2.4 qts)
Actual amounts from factory on my vehicle:
Front Dana 44: 44oz (15oz above bottom of fill hole) (1.4 qts)

I am also thinking that even though the riddler diff cover is larger so are the gears so it should balance out to the factory specs....
I tend to ignore the number, (it's an estimate, anyway) and just make sure it is filled to a level above the bottom of the axle tube. That's what it really needs, no matter what cover and gears it has.
