Looks like a water/oil mix, check your dipstick see if it's overfilled with like a coffee colored substance

My oil is clean, just changed it in fact. Now, it could be leftover from the previous owner. It was there the last time I changed the oil, too.

Also, there is a red fluid leaking there, too. Is this power steering fluid?

Almost looks like your power steer resevoir may be leaking and blowing it back into that spot. Can you wipe that brown gunk off? I suggest clean it up and you may be able to tell more where its coming from. You have trans lines runnin on the opposite side of the engine, maybe one is leaking and is running around to that side? Most likely the power sterring reservoir, the red stuff looks like atf-4. Maybe there's a small leak at your oil pan and thats mixing with the atf blowing on there an causing a brown gunk. Along with a coolant leak mixing with oil.Check out those things.

I agree, but if the oil in the engine is ok, some kind of water/oil mixture is getting there some way.

Mine looked like that when my water pump was going up and leaking coolant. Check out coolant level.

Your right, Most likely a leaky waterpump caused most of the residue, but he also needs to check the power steering pump reservior/tranny lines aswell, that bright red is not pink coolant.
My water pump went out at about 20,000 miles.
