I have taken my Jeep past 80 ...the hood is thin but I have no noticeable movement even into a headwind.

Mine was built in November with none of these problems.
Are you guys out of warranty or what have your dealers said about these things.

I agree that the hood latch is a problem. I have had several times that I wondered if it was going to come off it was smacking up and down so violently. It would be nice to see the aftermarket come out with some type of latches that will not stretch the way that the rubber latches do or for Chrysler to just go back to the center latch that does not allow the hood to raise without being released through the grill.

I really don't know what latch you are refering to as going back to one that doesn't release from the grill. Jeeps have had the same basic hood setup for geez like 50 years. The center is just a safety catch and has always been that way in CJ's and Wranglers.
I think the deal is up until now no one could safely drive a jeep fast enough to experience this. It could partly also be due to the hood just plain being lighter but that is the progression with all modern cars.

i cant see how the rear flare makes noise, I've had my flare off along with the inner fender and back on. Unless its really loose bouncing, I cant see how it would make noise.

I had to replace all the plastic clips, still no issues...

crappy quality? give me a break, no worse than my 06 Jetta TDI we owned..

the hood lift issue doesn't have anything to do with speed. I too can drive at 80 plus with no hood lift. BUT.....add a gusty crosswind or a large vehicle passing in the opposite direction and BINGO. The hood lifts to its stops. go on youtube to see video of my hood doing just this. Don't remember the URL but you can search on "jeep hood defect". Also, yes all cars are getting lighter, but as an example, my wife's toyota echo (damn near the lightest car made) doesn't do this. In fact, I've never heard of any other vehicle doing this. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Almost all other Jeeps do this. We have had several threads on it..

I never really looked driving the TJ until i drove the JK, But it does it just as bad. The YJ.. well I dont really wanna drive it that fast..but it does bounce.

and my old Willys... well shit everything bounces on it, I had the gas gauge come out of the dash and land on my lap....

Normally you have to buy British to get that kind of quality

If this is "normal", how come so many report that their's doesn't do this? Is it related to the under hood rubber bump stops / hood insulation (or lack thereof in my case)?

I'm eight years younger and probably not in as good condition

Please don't misunderstand about my "attitude" towards the Jeep and DC. I love this vehicle. Most fun you can have with your clothes on. AND, I am already starting to modify, much to my wife's disgust. So I guess I do plan on keeping it. BUT......I am still going to do what I can to get DC to resolve the many issues I have with the vehicle. I don't believe we do them any favors by not holding them to a very high quality standard. There are plenty of people here, myself included, who are first time Jeep owners and who are not very pleased with the experience so far. In addition, lots of my friends, family, etc. have asked me what I think of my Jeep and I can't in good conscience, give them a positive overall report. In short, LIKE the Jeep, HATE the dealer and DC.

Sorry if I threadjacked
