Question Freedom 'Drip' Top?

So I've had my JK for less than 2 weeks now... LOVE IT... other than my radio is getting replaced (another post)... and the Freedom Top is leaking...

It leaks right where the 2 front pieces meet up by the windshield. We had a good amount of rain here in Ohio the past few days.. and I had dripping all over the top of the dash (above radio area)... and a little on passenger seat. Tried to 're-set' it.. no luck.

I browsed thru forums ... someone suggested not to tighten the 2 back screws too tight cause they pull the top down/back too much and cause a seperation up in the front... hence leaking...

I took it to the dealer... they 'cleaned' it up (um, it's new)... and that's it... so if it still leaks... I dunno what to do...

Any other thoughts??

Thanks!

good luck. I'm in the same boat. As are many others. I hear people say theirs doesn't leak..... but I'm beginning to think they live in the desert. . I had the seals replaced on my windshield and tops. It got a little better but it still leaks. I will be taking it back soon.

I have the same leak on my May 07 build. Hate seeing my MyGIG get wet. Very hard rain creates the drip when parked and when braking. I plan on designing a clear drip tray this weekend to mount to the windshield tie down loop right under the leak to catch the water. Also plan on getting some of the AGS Sil-Glyde someone recommended and coating all the rubber trim to produce a waterproof barrier. No dealer going to “fix" my leak. I love a challenge.

I dont know I know alot of the leaks out there were due to improper panel installs try taking them off and putting them back on mine dont leak and I dont live in a desert

I dont tighten mine down until both sides are on then I do the latches and if I fell like it I put the screws back in.

Well now... this sux...
I had heard that early 07 models had leaking probs. that Jeep then 'corrected'. So hopes were probs. were ironed out for 08... . Guess not. errrrrr.

Yeah, prob. won't let dealer 'fix' it... doubt they can do any better than me stuffing a rag in there...

Love the Jeep but this is kinda disappointing for getting a new car... <sighs>

Hey, I was wondering if anybody else had the thought of leaving the 2 huge screws out of the top... kinda a pain to put in/out... but I'm to chicken to think what could happen doing 65 down the hwy w/o them! ha! I figure they are there for a good reason! LOL

ah well!

Default Buy some weatherstripping!

Okay I posted a whole section on this but apparently no one reads them unless they are affected by the end results LEAKS! I have an 07 Rubicon I purchased about 1 month and 1/2 ago w/dual tops and dual leaks both the hard and soft leaked like a shower .....I went to home depot and bought for 20 dollars 1 1/4 inch width sticky back weatherstripping and traced the line around the 3 sides of my drivers top and 2 of my passenger top and guess what ....NO LEAKS!
It worked for me on both tops and my jeep was only 2 weeks old when It happened. I had heard of everyone else having problems even after they took their Jeeps back to the dealers 4 & 5 times with no results other than frustration . F--- the dealers they don't care! and they haven't had a recall on it which also speaks volumes about the company. You just need to take matters into your own hands and fix it. It's not a big deal ...I'm surprised how many people would rather let water drip into their interiors instead of just doing it ..not only does it make the seals tight it also quiets the cabin down massively . I've had them off and on about 9 times now after applying the foam and they still seal it tight. Look for my other posts there are giant pics showing either the freedom top or the soft top. drag them to your desktop is the best way to view them because they are big to show exactly how the foam weatherstripping takes to the rubber it molds around each negative space ensuring no water inlets.
Fix those darn leaks!

Fuck off, the hardtop is a retarded design and everyone knows it.

Some people like you have low standards I guess.

And mind your own business chump.

I'm not getting an Fj, or will ever buy another JK. I figure if I want a vehicle that leaks water and is built from thin tin , I'm not spending $26000+ for it. I'll get an older Jeep AND a practical vehicle for everyday COMFORT and RELIABILITY.
