Freedom Top Leaking around A-Pillars, need advice
I searched the threads and found quite a bit of info on the Freedom Top leak issues. However it seems most people are getting leaks at the center of the dash. Mine is leaking down the A-pillars, then onto the dash by the speakers, and then down onto the floor. I've had my Jeep for 7 months now, and this just started recently. (It's been raining like crazy here). It doesn't leak every time, just when it rains really hard for an extended period. I have Never removed the top, so I know it's not something I did. I'm just trying to find out if anyone else has had this problem, and what they did to fix it. I don't want to take it to the dealer if it's just gonna end up leaking worse than it does now. Thanks
I don't have the freedom top, I have the sunrider soft top, BUT, I had water leaking in at the A-pillars as well. There is a TSB that came out in Feb. for leaking at the A-pillar. The TSB # is 23-041-07. It might refer to the soft top, but I would be willing to bet that if they can fix the soft top leak at the A-pillar, they can fix the hard top as well. By the way, the TSB is covered under warranty and it did fix the leaking.

I have a similar leak. I can't find the water pathway, but after a heavy rain the carpet on the driver side is wet under my rubber floor mat. I think it is coming down the A pillar behind the plastic molding. The freedom top on my JK has more of a gap in this location than on the passenger side. It has been leaking for about a month now (its only three months old). Plus, over the last couple of weeks the A/C has gotten a strong musty odor when you first turn it on. I typed my VIN into the Jeep recall/customer notification webpage and it said their was nothing applicable to my Jeep. I guess I will need to take it in and let them look at the door and roof seals.
You can unhook your 1/2 top hooks and lever handles. Don't remove the tops, just push each side up to break the seal, wiggle it a little. drop them back down and relatch. This stopped a left A pillar drip I had in April and the same stopped a center dash drip I had last week. The painted loops the hooks latch on can be adjusted down slightly to tighten up the A pillar corners of the top. The key word is SLIGHTLY. This sort of adjustment should be a tiny bit at a time.
When its raining and you have the door open to get into the vehicle the water is draining right into the plastic sleeve thingy attached to the a pillar from the inside only while the door is open. Water will pool in there (A Pillar Plastic thing) and slowly leak down the pillar onto the dash. Trust me, watch where the water goes when its raining hard and you have the door open. Not only does it leak right onto the floor of the Jeep it also leaks into the A pillar plastic thingy. Once the door is closed your getting residual water, not water from the outside
Hope this helps.
Hope this helps.
Another tip...my dealer said to latch the hardtop from front to back. I tried this and it seems to work. I close the two latches on the windshield pillar first, then move to the center, then to the sides and back. I only screw in the circle things (sorry, don't know the "official" word for the circle screws) until they are hand tight. Water has been out now for 4 months. Hope this helps!!

Thanks for the info guys. I'm gonna try a few things myself before taking it in. It's seems to be a pretty minor leak, so I'm hoping maybe a little adjustment here or there might fix it.
I have/had this same problem. After the dealer i bought it from couldnt fix it after three tries, Chrysler sent me to a different dealer. They found the leak, its where the windshield frame meets the black seal along the top of the windshield. They put some sort of silicone in the gap, and so far it hasnt leaked since.
Had the exact same problem with several inches of water in the floor boards. Took the Jeep to Poquoson Motors, Hampton Virginia. They have a sub-contractor who specializes in leaks. He replaced the rubber seals around both doors (2 door) and the header seal along the windshield. Poquoson Motors then replaced the carpet. I have no problems since in some really hard rains
