Default Front d30 axle problems !!!

Allright well I am going to make this short

@ 1400 miles I had a new front D30 axle put in was leaking @ the diff and axle tube !

Replaced under warranty everything is great yeaaaaaa

Then for the last 3 weeks I have been getting a whining noise that is very loud
@ higher speeds! Put on lift @ work today to change oil after having @ dealership for 2 full days and they didn't hear any noise and I told them to check the front axle something isn't right. Well after changing my oil low and behold to find diff fluid leaking again from the front diff @ the pinion on the diff
at the front drive shaft

Could the gear mesh in the new axle be bad and causing problems such as
low gas mileage?
vibrations in the drivetrain?
leaking fluid ?

Please someone help and should I ask jeep to put a D44 in the front becasuse
apparently there is someting really wrong here!!!

Question? Did they change the whole axle assembly or just the carrier and transfer all your internals over??

Dunno they wouldn't tell me I would assume that they transfered all internals over I asked when I called this morning and ran the service managers tail over the phone but wouldn't tell me what exactly they did but the print out say new housing's axle and diff

You have any ideas???

Sounds like you got a new carrier and tubes (thats a good thing, fresh straight C's for you to gusset!). I would have them overhaul it, it honestly sounds like they didn't set it correctly.

EDIT: Just for clarification, they probably transfered all your internals into the new carrier assembly (center section, tubes, C's).

Keep on going back until they get it right, pretty simple.

I am just wondering if there is something seriously wrong with the D30 axle
I don't won't to go back with it again if they keep replacing it every 3000 miles

the whining noise is the gears not set up properly, most likely they didint put enough torque on the pinion nut to crush the crush sleeve, the must have messed up installing the pinion seal also for it to be leaking. I hope they used all new bearings, seals and pinion nut, but with all that going wrong it almost sounds like they reused everything

here is a write up about setting up gears, its long but a good read so you know whats going on there.

The D30 is a perfectly good axle set-up. It honestly just sounds like they didnt do a proper setup on it when they transfered all your inners to the new housing.

there are MANY MANY guys here that wheel the hell out of their dana 30, they are good as long as they are setup/fixed correctly

Good luck maybe try another dealer if the original is still unhelpful

Thanks 4 the info everyone I appriciate it alot I guess I just got the bum mechanic and dealership to deal with

I am taking it to another dealership in my area b/c they are a little more offroad friendly and the dealership that had it the last 2 days couldn't warrant
anything they did wrong nor even really tried kept blaming it on the lift and the fact that I have "Big mud tires" which they couldn't hear over to hear the noise I was describing to them
