Alright, I just picked up a clamp that appears to be exactly like the OEM one. I showed the pictures to a mechanic, and he said that the rubber ring that the clamp goes on is actually just for rotational balancing, not for sealing the CV joint or anything. I don't see any evidence of leakage anywhere on the boot, so it looks like it should be fine for now.
