Recently I had to replace the front seats in my 2007 JK. I did not realize it when I got the seats, but apparently there is a difference between factory seats that go in 2 doors and 4 door Jeeps as the seats I bought used to replace my OEM seats do not tilt forward to allow access to crawl into to rear seat area. I'm guessing 4 door Jeeps don't require a tilting front seat so Jeep does not put that expense into those models.
Not a huge issue as I rarely need access to the rear seat but for resale would be nice to have front seats that actually are useful in that capacity.
Is there any way to mechanically alter these seats to allow for a front tilt?
Other than replacing these replacement seats are there any other options to get these seats to tilt?
Thanks for any help.

Not that I'm aware of. You're talking about the entire base assembly being different, as you note, because the 4drs have zero use for that function.
What was wrong with your old seats? Do you still have them? If so, I'd probably look at removing the new seats from the base, and see if you could mount them to the old base. I don't have a 2dr, so I'm not certain if there is any change in the actual seat mechanics other than the differences in the base.

The driver's side had a tear in the cloth which was not a terrible deal, one I could have fixed but the night I left my topless Jeep in the work parking lot while on night shift, some errant cat jumped in and made a litter box out of the seat. FREAKING HORRIBLE ODOR. Damn cat must have pissed a gallon in my driver's seat. I gave up years ago trying to remove cat odor so I went on a seat safari. Got a trade of two little used seats for my two so I jumped on it. Did not realize the seats did not tilt until too late. My seats were side air bags and the current ones are not so I get to enjoy the air bag warning light on all the time now too. But, no cat smell so I can live with it.
