Default Front wheel speed sensor same part number but looks and measures different. How to?

Hello all. I’ve got a 2008 JKU 4 doors. One of the wheel speed sensor in front is going bad and I’ve done a swap with the other front side to make sure the fault code goes to the changed side. I ordered a replacement sensor according to the part number and I received a different looking sensor than what was on the vehicle originally. I checked with various sources and they came back with the same new replacement sensor which I have problem fitting. It is longer by abit 10mm and the diameter which goes into the hole is over by 0.5mm. Anyone else has this similar experience? How did you resolve it? Thank you in advance for any help rendered.

Length of tip is longer by 10mm

The tip of the sensors are different

This is the part number.

The total length is slightly longer but not such a big concern.

Have you had your wheel bearings replaced? I have heard that some of the wheel bearing carriers come with and require a manufacturer specific wheel speed sensor.

wheel bearing are as per factory. They had been replaced before a few years back but it was the same part number which matched to the original wheel sensors.

Anyone else before I order new wheel bearings? Damn!

My buddy bought new unit bearings at O'Reilly auto parts and the sensors that came with them looked a lot like yours that don't fit. Something must have changed

I know the sensors they sell at auto zone fit my 2013 with the original factory hubs with no issue. You might try them.

Edit: but if my memory serves me correctly, they were the longer ones in your image.

I just did new Timken front hub assemblies and the cables they come with are way to short so i had to order these off amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FSDUZ54/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 . looks like the same part number and they fit in the Timken hubs.

Dear all, I need a shorter front wheel speed sensor for my JKU. If anyone has a spare on hand and can let me have it, please drop me a pm. I am unable to post on the Wanted section due to being a new underprivileged member. Appreciate the help. I’m located in Singapore. Thank you.

Hey, did you ever figure out where the shorter wheel sensor came from? I’m dealing with the same issue. Have a 2012 JKU that needed to have front right wheel sensor replaced and found the same one you had. No local auto parts stores have a clue. I’m going to pull off the wheel bearing to see if maybe there are some markings to indicate the manufacture.

Did anyone figure out where to buy the smaller sensor? I need the same thing on my 2012 Sport Passenger side. I bought the Jeep used and I don't know what brand wheel hub I have, but it uses the smaller sensor. The longer version that is supposed to fit my Jeep is about 1/4" to long and won't fit.
