08 4dr, Stock 17" tires and wheels, 3.73, 26 miles to work in Atlanta traffic, 17 of which are on I-75. Atlanta Traffic=10MPH to 85MPH, it all depends on what time of the day. I get about 18.5 mpg. I try to keep it at about 70-80MPH. If you keep the rpm below 3000 your milage should improve.

Looks like I lost about 1mpg since I put some 315/75/16s on. I was getting about 18ish 80/20 City/Highway. Now I have dropped to low 17 high 16. O well I still say it was still worth it.

225/70 16's with stock 4.10 and auto trans, 2 dr. "X" model.....20.8 MPG yesterday. I went 290 miles and filled up with 13.9 gallons.

It's not just the 4 dr models that can go 300 miles on a tank.

So what im seeing is that the more milage/older the jeep is the MPG gets better.
I have a 08 2door halfdoor 6speed rubicon stock and im getting 15.7 mpg and i have 3200 miles on her, city/high 50/50

So with that said when im at 5000 miles my avarge should get better because the engine would be more broken in? right?

I'm tracking my millage very close but I don't have the electronics so I'm using a spreadsheet after every fill-up. Along with the millage I'm tracking daily temp and humidity.

I'm finding a break point on humidity, if it's less than 80% the milage drops by 2+ mpg. The humidity drops at about 23 degrees F.

Moisture in the air helps combustion and increases millage so at less than 80% humidity and below 23F my millage is in the 16.2 - 16.7MPG range. When the temp is above 23F and humidity is above 80% I get 18 - 18.5MPG range.

The reason I'm tracking this so close is so I can see what happens to MPG when I install a CIA and an Opened up muffler this spring.

I added Gerry can holders as it's way easy to run out of gas out in the Arizona desert.
1st trail trip I almost did too!

I run 35's tho and it went piggy as hell as soon as those went on.

I' considering getting a town set of wheels and tires but when I do the math I would need to run about a zillion miles to make the difference back in fuel. Until it gets to be $4 bucks a gallon I think I'll just ignore it all and drive the pig.

I get 19mpg on flat no wind freeway btw and 13/15 in town.

Crawling tho, I get a respectable 16/17 on average tho some of the rowdier long uphills can go down to 12/14 over a 6 or 8 hour "hike".

All in all the Jeep isn't a "green" vehicle tho I think the Jeep owners would prolly be if they could be, for the most part.
At least I hope so.

Anyway the usual story is stockers tend to get 85% of posted EPA values as a general rule with some tending to meet and a few to exceed those, in any car.
I.M.O. it's a rigged game.

These numbers make me crazy. I have an unlimited with 33s and 4.10 gears and 6 speed. I can't get above 15 mpg, with the mileage measured by a GPS.

10,000 miles and no improvement. I even ran tests such as keeping the RPMs up in the 3k range for freeway driving (4th gear) and running the lowest possible in over drive, keeping speeds to 65 mph and nothing seems to help. I have a CAI and Jett II chip. I notice a very small improvement if I drive 75% freeway as I am mostly 1/3 freeway and 2/3 city. I tried driving like a maniac, and driving like the little old lday from pasadena. Always 14 to 15 mpg.

I think I am going to unplug my chip and see if that helps.
