Stock JK TechBulletin board forum regarding issues with OE (original equipment) components of the Jeep JK Wrangler (Rubicon, Sahara, Unlimited and X) such as factory suspension parts, engine, transmission, body parts, interior fixtures and the on-board computer.
I replaced the stock fuel fill tube with the updated version, p/n CNNNX321AC, today and went to fill it up... it worked perfectly. Hated the overflow.
When swapping it out I found, what looks like to be, some sort of vent tube that attaches to the top of the tank had broken from its location. I think it has been this way for a while because when I clipped the zip ties that held the tube to the overflow tube, it just fell loosely. Since owning it I don't have any lights lit up on my dash. I may get some clear silicone hose and try to splice a piece on to reattach. Any issues with having like this?

Usually that will throw an evap leak code. The better fix on it is to -lightly- drill out that nipple and the one on your gas tank, then get a piece of vacuum hose connector, sand down the barbs, then JB weld the whole thing together with your connector being a sleeve between the two pieces. I'm surprised you've not run into small evap codes, with it broken like that. Usually folks will go down the rabbit hole throwing parts at it when that's the only problem there. I feel fell victim to the rabbit hole on that one.
Yeah, after reading around, I'm surprised I wasn't getting any code issues either (fingers crossed)
So, if I'm understanding you right; drill out the broken part on the gas tank and the connector. Take the sanded down vacuum hose connector and push into the gas tank side and then slide the drilled out connector over it and JB Weld all?
Thanks

That's right, I slathered my connector in JB weld (double bubble edict epoxy in my case) and then inserted it into both ends. You'll want to make sure that hose can move but is lightly limited. I think I broke mine when I strapped it all down super tight to that hose.
Yea I can't believe that doesn't throw a code but the "gas cap" always does? I think the only real fix to this is an entire new gas tank? So JB weld for sure if you can.
I no longer am getting the "gascap" message but I'm getting a P0456 error code, small leak in the Evaporation Emission System.
Could it be that although I got it reconnected fine I didn't quite get it totally sealed? Am wondering if I should slather it with some gasket sealer I have left over when pulling my diff covers off?
I would imagine if I simply clear the code it will come back on. Thoughts?
I'd always clear that code before trying anything new. But yes, that's why I suggested (probably in another thread) to coat the vacuum fitting in JB Weld. I used vacuum hose and jb weld- made an absolute mess but no code back, yet.
Thanks. I used a JB Weld Clear epoxy. I thought I got enough on there, but was on a creeper on my back, so who knows. I wonder if another coat would help. I'll heed your advice and get it cleared first.
Side Note: I went to my local O'Reilly's Auto and they can no longer go out to your vehicle. He gave me the code reader and some basic instructions, but I couldn't get to the menu to clear the code. He said it's "buried" in there.
I'll run it out to my mechanic tomorrow morning. Whenever I get a code he usually checks them & clears it for me.
