Default Garmin/430N Question

Does anyone know how or if the Garmin updates? I also have a Garmin Nuvi and I update that four times a year or so. I have to hook it to my computer, it takes 1 or 2 hours sometimes.

It depends on the maps package you have. If you have the lifetime type just plug it to your PC and run the Garmin updater software. I did mine once but it was quite fast. How fast is your Internet connection?

If you do not have the service you either have to pay for the updates or maybe you still have some if you still have some warranty left.

ETA. Just realized that your could be talking about the one that comes in the Jeep? In that case I'm not sure. I was referring to the portable models.

Updates are available on CD. You can purchase the newest version off Amazon. Just be sure to get the one listed for Jeep.

I just had the 430N unit replaced by the dealer because of some odd issues, and the first thing he did was do a firmware update because he said the version in the unit wasn't current. So besides map info, there are system changes.
It changed some of the visual interfaces from the original unit, so the short answer is "yes" there are updates, but I'm not sure that a map update would cover that. A call to Garmin might be in order.
