Gas Tank Recall
I had just bought my 2008 jk rubi about a month ago with 3700 miles on it and I absolutely love it. Only problem with is was that it would puke out gas on me everytime I filled it up! Luckily i read over the issue and realized it was a recall and that it would be a free fix. I just hope I don't get that dreaded "death wobble".
That's because it is not exactly a recall. It is more of warranty type deal. Not all of the 08s spit fuel back at you. If yours isn't having an issue I wouldn't worry about it. If you are having issues the dealer "should" fix it at no cost.
I had my '08 Sahara gas tank replaced a couple months ago. It puked out gas with every fillup. They replaced the tank and said there was a broken check valve i the filler tube. Have no problems since.
One thing I noticed is the new tank is plastic. I can't remember if the original one was plastic or metal. Anyone know?

Mine used to puke all the time, usually right as the auto-shutdown clicked on the pump. Trying to top it off was another way to guarantee a mess. But about 3 months before Jeep issued the warranty extension for the gas tank, it quit doing it.
Now the only time it pukes is if I try and top it off without giving it 10 or so seconds to settle first. On the other hand, now I have to take extra care to make sure my gas cap is on solid else it works it's way loos over a day or three. Nowhere near as frustrating as having the tank puke back at me though.

'08 Sahara here...
Let my dealer know about it back in February, after reading up on it here. And after experiencing far too many spit backs. Once they got the notice about it, they gave me a call and I got my new tank. Took 'em just a couple of hours to do the install.
There are several threads about it here. There was a certain time frame, related to build dates, on which ones were available for the fix. If it continues to be a problem, your local dealer should know if yours is eligible. And if it is, they should fix it for free.
