In gear or neutral when parking your six speed?
I use both always,
My ebrake didnt work on my TJ and I used to leave it in gear, went to start it up one morning with my right foot on the clutch without getting into the jeep and reached over to pull the shifter out of first after I started it foot slipped off the clutch and the jeep rolled into my gas line out side my house, Almost blew up my Jeep, my house and me with it.
After that I took the time to make sure the ebrake was in perfect working order
On my JK if i am on a flat surface I just use the ebrake, if there is any sort of incline or decline I leave it in gear and use the parking brake.

Set brake and Reverse - lower gear than first more mechanical advantage for the low compression 3.8
I always put it into neutral before starting just in case my foot slips off the clutch (hasn't happened yet, but you never know)
Great idea to use low range if on a steep hill as this will provide that much more breaking force from the engines compression - I'll start using this Thanks JKlad

Me too. Reverse, e-brake set, and wheels turned in/out as appropriate. I left it in a friends driveway once- it is super steep. Came back out to find the jeep all the way down the driveway, inching backwards one compression at a time. It was in first gear and the e-brake wasn't set firmly enough. Caught it and no harm done, more funny than anything, but it could have been bad had it happened elsewhere on a busy street, etc.
You should always use the Hand Brake, and if it's not working up to Par, check out this write up. It works wonders, and you might save yourself some running after your rig on a hill.

Always first with the handbreak, I did the reverse before, but was told not to due to the size of some plastic linkage in there, don't know. But I have left it in first with no ebrake, and jus the slight grade of my driveway had it at the bottom before daylight.
