Default In gear or neutral when parking your six speed?

I am finally coming back to a manual trans.. the Sahara was the first and only auto I have had in the past twenty plus year and it numbed my brain.

In the past I always relied on the e-brake and never left the vehicle in gear when parked, but I've read that our e-brakes aren't the most reliable. I don't often park on a hill (sad to say).

So, when parked... in gear or not?

It's always been good practice to leave a manual transmission in 1st or reverse, with the parking brake on.
Frequent use of the parking brake will avoid its seizure from corrosion.

First gear, brake on. Brake isn't reliable, as you wrote. Also, when parked on a hill, it's always a good idea to ensure that the tires are pointed so that the Jeep will roll into the hill rather than off the side ...

Yeah, always in 1st (front pointing up the incline) or reverse (front pointing down the incline) with the e-brake on & if it's a particularly steep hill, I always put her in 4-low for extra security.

Usually always e-brake plus first or reverse although I do sometimes just leave it in neutral and throw on the e-brake. Plenty of rolling resistance so no a flat surface she isn't going anywhere.

In gear with the break on and wheels turned if on the trails, just read a story about a guy parked on a hill helping a fellow jeeper that was stuck. His break cable failed and his tranny was in netural and he couldnt get out of the way fast enough, serious internal injuries.
