gear oil weight
what weight gear oil should i use? the night before a road trip, i noticed my front diff is dripping, so i'm going to change it (15k anyway) and check about stoping the leak

At 15,000 miles my gear oil was fairly cloudy both front and rear. You could use the 75w-140 or use a 75w-90 which tends to be cheaper.
Changing it will take less than 30 min and cleaning up will take the most time.
When you do change the oil, I suggest you take the cover off and reseal it. I have the lube locker gasket and no leaks so far. They are reusable and around $15 which IMO is cheap for the peace of mind.
