Default Hard/Soft Top Removal

Has anyone here run into trouble with the dual top group - specifically after I pulled the hard top and installed the soft top, I can't figure out where to secure the bows when i put the ragtop down. The spot according to the manual has a torx-screw point sitting there. Do those need to come off with the hardtop, and if so, how? This is my first Jeep and i'm kinda dumb, so none of this is exactly intuitive.

Thanks,
Derek

I had this same problem, and it is not addressed by the project-jk writeups (though they are very good writeups). Basically, you can see the slot referred to in the manual in this pic:

... but if you have the dual top group, there is a little plastic block in that hole where the hard top screws in when it's on. I couldn't figure out a way to easily remove that block, so my soft top bows just kind of wind up flopping around a little more than I would like.

FWIW, it gave me no problem on the highway at 85, as long as you use the little velcro strap to squeeze the bows together, you should be fine.

I would welcome a better solution though.
