really I've had mine on and off a lot of times and there's no scratches on the top rail where it sits. Unlike the side of the vehicle thanks to the wonderful shrubbery found on trail.

do a google search on "hoist a top". I can't remember the company who makes it, but they sell protection for that particular area.

It's made by Lange. I have one in my basement. Makes things much easier & don't have to ask for help from neighbors.

first year I got my JK the HT was installed by the factory and scratched a little on the back corner. A old trick I learned from the CJ days is using rubber door / windows seal foam tape and stick in to do a seal between the metal top and the HT. You can do 2 run on each side of where you screw the top it will perform better insulation and remove squeaking from the HT making contact with the metal. You will have to retighten your HT screw 1 or 2 times in a couples days interval fallowing the installation as the rubber seal will compress. When you're ready for the summer you peel away the insulator and voila.

I've never rubbed my taking it on and off but just from vibrations on the trail and washboard the hard top rubbed paint off both the rear corners

I always gate the scratches that I didn't get the privelidge of adding myself.

Oh and PS my top was tight. I was always checking the bolts as ive found they seem to have a tendency of loosening.
