I just got my unlimited Rubi with the soft top only and really wanted the hard top, but did not want to wait 3 months for my factory order to come in...anyway, i too am looking to order or buy a hard top add-on. There is no defroster switch on my thermostat dial where it should be and i dont see that there is a rear wiper control on my wiper stick.

Not really the end of the worls, i can add simple switches for that stuff later.

Funny about the cost though b/c if you order the soft top with the hard top as well, but NOT the dual top package, the Hradt Top is $695. But the Bestop aftermarket is over $2k. I have not gotten a price from my dealer, I need to recover from the JK purchase a little before i drop some more coin on a hard top. But if someone out there did have there dealer order just a hard top, u would like to know what they were charged.

Good to know, thanks! I have a hard top on order from my dealer for my Sahara. You may have just saved me a lot of hassle.

My dealer quoted me the price of $2300 for the hardtop and installation/flashing. The top alone runs 2100.

ouch, if you go to a car webstie like vehix and build your own JK, without the dual tops, but add in the hard top, it comes up $695...weird. too bad i suppose b/c i am not paying 2200 for a hard top.

It is always cheaper to get it when you order it. If you get the dual top I think that is about 1300 (?) So really it is only about a thousand dollars to get the hardtop after the fact. If you think about it that way.

I bought my X off the lot with a soft top.
Ordered the hard top for $2,155 which included installation.
I did not notice if it had the defroster button on the fan speed dial or the extra knob on the wiper shaft, but the hardtop was sold as a complete kit including the harness, wiper/washer, defroster, etc.
They quoted 8 weeks for delivery, but it only took 3.

The $695 is the adder for the hard top with a credit for the soft top.
The $1,300 dual top option is a good one if you are willing to order and wait.

They had to reflash the ECM to turn on the defroster. DC just released the upgrade last week.

Well there where some issues with teh flashing of my firmware for the upgrade, but it was a factory defect casuing the problem. What should have taken a half hour took more like 3 hours to get done. Luckily they didn't try charging me and all works well. We actually got frost the very next day, so I was fortuante. Beyond that I did the upgrade becasue I went with what was available on the lot and didn't want to order a specific one based on how long it would take. I thought if I would have waitied I may not have gotten my Jeep. It was kind of an impulse buy, but I have had no regrest since doing it and and learned to appreciate and enjoy driving.
