Just curious....has anyone had to replace a hood latch yet?
If so how much and how is it installed?
I wonder how long that rubber latch will last?

If im not mistaken quadratec offers replacement that doesn't allow the hood to move around so much on the highway.

You are correct on that. If the flapping hood makes you nervous you can get them. I only notice it on mine at speeds in excess of 70 MPH and when the wind is blowing. I've got 11.5k miles on mine and my hood latches are doing fine. I don't know pricing but quadratec can tell you.

At least one person posted about a year ago that he had a latch fail at highway speed, and go flying off the back of the Jeep. So, yes, presumably someone has replaced a latch. I don't know how much it cost him, however. I would be surprised if the Daystar latches weren't cheaper than OEM, however.

Default Last a long time

My 'old' Jeep is a TJ, 11 years old now. The hood latches on it are fine... a bit faded, but still strong. They appear to be very similar to the new JK latches. So, I don't think they wear out very fast.

But, I never heard of much hood lift on TJs... so maybe they did not get the same workout.

That said, I do not experience any hood lift on my 07 Sahara Unlimited... totally stock. I wonder if folks who lift and/or remove the airdam get more lifting in high headwind situations....

I like the zip tie idea if you are worried. I hear some complain about the 'hard closing' of the Daystar replacements.

I have two more words.... Zip Ties look like SH#@! for a "fix" I would not rock a zip tie. I mean a trasil fix so you don't get a face full of hood going down the road, but not for a real fix. I have installed the Daystar Hood Wranglers, and they rock. The hood is not moving anymore! I like them but if you want all your friends to ask "why do you have these Ghetto azz plastic zip tie on your hood?" Whatever works for you. Good Luck JOE>

I have a 4" lift with my airdam still on and my hood still wants to take off. I don't notice it at highway speeds just when big rigs go past me in the opposite direction.

I think that's five more words. But, setting that aside, you must cater to a tough crowd. Here's exactly what the Zip-tie fix looks like, if properly installed:
