Default Headlights flickering???

When idling my headlights slightly flicker and wen i step on the gas they get slightly brighter... Normally i would blame it on the battery for not filling in the low spots of volts/amps being that the alternator is kinda variable buts its a brand new battery possibly the alternator on its way out? Also when i was driving all the dash lights came on and the chime came on lik i just started the engine it acted lik i turned it off and on without the engine actually turning off or touching the key.... Anyone?

How old is your jeep? My first thought was definitely your alternator is going.

think you have something more going on than a dying alternator. If your alt was dead your car would just die and not turn over once the battery drains, because you would be running electrical devices off just the go juice of the battery.

Put a volt meter on the battery to see what the voltage is at different RPMs.
It should be pretty steady around 14.3 volts.

You may have dirty connections at the battery, at the TIPM, at the alternator, at the ground points, etc.

Thanx guys its an 07...i think it is just dirty connections cause an alternator throws out variable, subtle volts/amps which would make the lights slightly flicker if the battery was weak cause it wouldn't be able to fill in the spots to cover for the alternator but the battery is a brand new mopar

The stock headlamps are fed by PWM (pulse width modulation), which is why certain replacements flicker. The voltage varies noticeably.

If you're putting in actual HID projectors you'll have a nice setup. If you're putting hid lamps into the halogen-spec'd lenses on the JK, your wasting your time and money. They're incompatible, at worst you'll be blinding other drivers, at best you get a big splash of light in the near field but you won't have improved your lighting. Don't fall for the hype.

Most likely just the new electronics in these JK's. It is really the weak link in most modern Chrysler products. My son got rid of his Dakota, because of the electronic glitches.
