Default Help for nfg!!!

been searchin through the forum archive but could not find answer to my problem. so here goes: Got an 07 jk with 49000 miles(dayaaam) yup i love drivin her. anyway, lately when ever i throttle up, it makes a loud annoying sound, like two sheet metal being rubbed together. I brought to my local dealer and they said it was a leak of some sort. they claimed to have fixed it but as soon as i drove out of the lot...yup, there it goes! I've looked under along the muffler and around but i just dont know what to look for. any help would be great. thnx a bunch. Oh, i've changed the plugs just incase it wasnt burning the fuel efficiently but to no avail. thnx again.

Can you get a video that captures the noiset? If so, post it and we might be able to help. I don't think I will be able to help based on words alone.

I had a heat sheild break at the weld and it rattled on take off, but not after about 1200 RPM. It was right after the cadlytic converters were the two exhaust pipes merge. I use a exhaust clamp to hold it until I could have fixed.
Good Luck,

ahhh....the please diagnose my sound problem thread.
We can throw plenty of ideas your way...but it's going to be very difficult to diagnose without actually being there to hear it. The best advice yet was to try to capture the sound on video if possible...that would help alot.
I'm having a hard time discerning what two pieces of sheet metal sound like rubbing together....anything else you can add?

Default Had a feeling...

Good lookin out, appreciate the response and I understand what ya'll mean. This is quite frustrating! Will try to capture the sound on video, however, this might take some creativity (and perhaps some $$$) but will give it some effort.

The local dealer did say something about a leak in the manifold but that they had fixed the problem. Curious, would the injectors create any kind of noise if they're BO?? I feel like just replacing the entire exhaust system.

Again thanks for the advice. Will post again for updates.

Man......I wouldn't do that. Because what if you do and you still have the noise? Can't you have somebody else rev it up and you listen around? Are you sure it's coming from the engine compartment? Or just take it back to the dealership and tell them to fix the damn thing.......well, I guess that's if you got the extended warranty. If not, let us hear the sound somehow.
