Default Help -- P0038 O2 sensor 1/2 heater circuit high

My engine light came on a couple of days ago. It would go off for a little while then come back on for the rest of the day. What does this exactly mean? Do I need to replace my O2 sensor? I'm curious if anyone else has had this problem? My Jeep isn't running any different and I don't notice any gas milage change. I'd appreciate any feed back. Thanks

1/2 means bank #1 and sensor #2. bank is just the side of the motor as it is a v6. can't remember wich side is wich but bank one will be the one with cylinder #1. anyway newer o2 sensors have have a heater to get them working sooner rather than wait for the engine exhaust to warm them, the downsteam or second sensor isn't as important as the first or upsteam one, this is why you won't notice any difference. 99% of the time it is the o2 sensor its self but definatly have a look for broken wires or bad connection first. hope this helps.

I had a code of P0032. It also has something to do with the oxygen sensor. I've had this code come up 3 times. Finally the last time, they couldn't get the check engine light to go out, no matter what they did. They finally had to replace the ECM to fix it.

I had my jeep at two different dealers one im wi and the other in Ga. the dealrship that i got it from. The one in Wi. told me it was the oxygen sensor and they replaced them but going back to Tn. The light went on and it was the 02 senser the Ga. dealr said it was a known issue with the ECM

I got a P0158 ‐ O2 SENSOR 2/2 CIRCUIT HIGH code and engine light last week. This code only flashed for a split second then all I got was -------- and then -done- when I tried to pull the codes again. It hasn't done it a second time......yet.

Default O2 Sensor P0038, P0158

I got two error codes. First error code I got was the P0158 which says bank 2 sensor 2 circuit high. I replaced it and now I got a different error code. The new one is P0038 which means bank 1 sensor 2 heater circuit high. I replaced that O2 sensor and the same error code ( P0038) remains even if I reset the computer. Any ideas? It could be the cat, ECM, PCM, or something else? Taking it to a shop tomorrow, but think they'll get the same error code.

Bank 1 = passenger's side (right)
Bank 2 = driver's side (left)

I had the same code. Dealor replaced the sensor under warranty. It could be the sensor itself or it could be damaged wiring going to the sensor. Crawl underneath and check your sensor wiring for visible damage.
