The fact that the stabilizer clamp was not moved is not an indication of no alignment done. That said, the only thing they really would have done with an alignment is adjust toe and straighten your steering wheel.

The idea that the dealer you took it to never did the original recall work is something to ponder. I think the liability of not actually performing that recall work and saying you did would be way too great for any dealer. It could be likely that they did replace the airbag and the new shroud they had just wasn't the updated one? Can you imagine the legal liability if that jeep had been in a fatality crash where that airbag was faulty and it could be proven it had not been replaced? It seems that could be detrimental to a dealer and not something they would risk.
Thanks resharp for the quick response. I feel like if they actually did an alignment my steering wheel would be straight unless of course it is aligned perfectly, but the steering wheel is off a spline. I thought the same thing also about the liability of not performing a recall, but it's obvious from the paperwork on the clock spring recall that the steering wheel backplate should have been replaced, and it wasn't, and it was in perfect condition when I went to do the repair myself. The job seems like it cannot be performed without destroying or marking the old backplate, which is why it gets replaced with the updated part with the notches in it. It also explains why my clock spring went bad since it wasn't really 4 years old but rather 14 years old. You and I have been on this forum for a while. This is not a repair that comes up often or at least more than once.

As you can tell, this dealer really grinds my gears.

Any advice on this one since my steering column doesn't seem to have the normal cutouts? I'm assuming the tiny cutouts at around 10:00 and 2:00?

can you give me any pointers on how to remove the air bag. I do not have the access points.
