Curiosity got to me, so I went out to check. With the plug removed the power still works, but the ignition will not crank at all.

I'm the second owner. Bought it from a used lot. I was under the impression it is/was a factory option.

I am not aware of such an option. I'm 99% sure this was stealer installed.

was getting my earl changed this morning at the dealership and asked they said if removed the jeep will not start. Good to know now you can really mess with your buddies pull it out of thiers and watch them freak when thier rig wont start

It is a dealer add on. If removed ( like you said) it will not start the vehicle. HAd the exact same thing in my dodge ram years ago. Its just something lame the sales people try and sell you when your buying the vehicle. But...tell your insurance company and they may give you a discount for having an anti theft device installed. mine did..
