How to best clean the undercarriage on my JK
It does not hurt to spray the salt off the undercarraige when you can. However, it is getting into places above and inside the frame you will not get to easily.
I was amazed when the body was pulled off to put in the hemi in 09 how much old mud and crud was in nooks and crannies I did not even know existed.
I think instead of trying to constantly clean Michigans winter road salt and summer salt water "dust control" off every day (yay salt year round!) in a few more years I will find an immaculate southern "mall crawler" to buy, and do some swapping.
That will also give me a "hanger bay queen" for spare parts.

I think the sprinkler idea was great. Tried it out and it knocked off a ton of old debris from the underbody. Then I hit it with simple green and then started the sprinkler again. My next question is what to detail it with. There's a jeep show coming up and I want the underbody and undercarriage to really shine. All the metal is dull and a few places have rust under there. I want the shocks, coils, and frame to really pop.

On a previous Jeep (1982 CJ-7 purchased new) I waxed the undercarriage. I did it so that after wheeling the dirt and mud would wash off MUCH EASIER and it worked. A side note is that it also gave it a black appearance along with a little shine instead of the grey. Although, in reality, the "shine" was more of a satin instead of a gloss.
Living in Pennslytucky, I have been using a sprinkler under all my vehicles since the '70s. I have a flat style. It has one of those heads that turn for different spray patterns. You can change the pattern to get most everywhere. I don't detail, but I do get most of the mud off after a wheeling trip. I do wash off all the salt whenever it is warm in the winter. The flat one will go under any cars you might have. I have had the same sprinkler for years, and it has never watered the lawn.
you could always roll it over on its top.
post 11 is a good example how to get your under carriage spotless.
