Default How Differant

So besides trim what are some differances between the Rubicon and a Sport. I know you get a nice flashy sticker but who cares abou that really. I'm talking meat and potatos here. What advatages do I get. I know you get better off roading type tires but i suspect that you can fit those exact tires and wheels under all of the other trim levels. Heck even a link to a website (besides the Manufacture's specifications aka BS) would do.
Is the Rubicon even that much more capable if your just going to go aftermarket with most of it?

Ooooh, this should be fun...

In all seriousness though. There are quite a few functional differences between a Rubicon and Sport. I'll tackle some and leave some for others.
  • Sport - Dana 30 front/Dana 44 rear axles. Rubicon - Dana 44 axles front and back.
  • Sport - No locking axles or electric sway bar disconnect. Rubicon - Independent front and rear axle locks and electronic front sway bar disconnect.
  • Sport - No rocker protection. Rubicon - Rubicon Rock Rails
  • I don't know that any of the Sport models can come with electronic power windows/door locks, but I know Rubicons can
  • Sport - Smaller (don't know the size) all-terrain tires. Rubicon - 255/75R17 (i think?) mud terrain tires.
  • I'll let some others tackle the transfer case (Don't wanna have all the fun)
  • The list goes on...See below.

Thanks for the quick replies. Unfortunately this is not a joke. Real questions here. I know what the roderick information on the jeep web site says I am looking for a non sales pitch version of how they are more or less capable.

I have the sport (with power windows, locks and heated mirrors.. so it is an option.) I haven’t looked at my details of mine but i could have sworn that i have the option for a rear locking diff or limited slip at least. I am sure it’s not a Detroit locker or anything.
I will be sure to check out the web site posted for me.

In reference to the bigger tire.. If I were to take a stock set of rubi tires and wheels slap it on my Sport S. In theory I think, that it would have the same clearance around the tire and stance of the rubi stock ver.

Well I am sure that while I am looking around I will come up with some more "brainy" questions for AlexTen to poke fun at

Just for the record, my '11 Sport came with 255/75R17 street tires (Goodyear Wranglers) and came with the package that included power windows and locks.

And about the different stickers - I just took my Sport decal off and replaced it with a JK Forum Lone Star State decal anyway.
