how do you guys clean the engine??

Default how do you guys clean the engine??

took my son wheeling yesterday and hit a few big mud holes. went to check the pa horn to make sure its still held in place and noticed the engine is filthy. is it safe to spray down with a hose?

simple green and a little brushing and garden hose, low pressure.

Go to the coin op and spend a few bucks, high pressure soapy water and a good rinse for mud. Gunk engine degrease for oil and grime.

I always drive straight to the car wash (only a few blocks away) so the engine is still cool and spray some Simple Green on everything, spray with wash soap, then rinse. After washing I normally try to go drive a little to dry everything.

Check the radiator to see if it has mud on the fins. Be prepared to spend some time cleaning it. If it is clogged, you will have overheating issues.

x3 on the simply green and LOW pressure I take the nozzle off when I clean inside the engine compartment

Nice thread.. Every time on my car and high pressure I have to replace a TPS. Good advise on the low pressure.
