Default How do you take apart drivers door mirror?

Does anyone know how to take apart a drivers side door mirror? How to I remove the door mount section from the shaft that attaches to the mirror and the outer plastic? I can't get them separated.

I was able to separate mine after hours of pulling and banging the bolt, which I backed out a bit and took a mallet to that with a piece of wood over it. I ended up with a fat lip when the damn thing finally gave in when I was pulling up on it. Good luck with yours, and wear a face protection if your yanking it up.

Spray some WD40, use a rubber mallet and hit the mirror frame. I had the same problem and that worked. It's a bitch cause the aluminum in the bracket gets corroded. Good luck!

Well......I just called it. I just used the mirror I just got that has some scratches on the plastic. When I knock this one off with a tree again, then I can try to separate it then!

Just take the bolt out from underneath and turn the mirror halfway back and smack the bottom the the mirror with your hand. Hard.
