I believe the manual said you can switch into 4H at a max speed of 55MPH, but never states the max speed you can drive in 4H. I've drove 65+ in 4H and never noticed any problems or anythign weird

Check out my sig for the owners manual. it said it in there somewhere

If I remember correctly, I think you can drive upto 65mph in 4H. Shifting from 2H - 4H, according to the manual, upto speeds of 55mph. I've driven it upto 60mph in 4H as well and didn't notice anything wrong.

From the manual...(have it as PDF):

Do not drive this vehicle in excess of 50 mph (80
km/h) with the transfer case in the four wheel drive
high range (4H). Failure to follow this warning can
result in loss of control and an accident causing
serious and fatal injuries.

That being said, I don't know if this is just a safety precaution, or is the actual mechanical limit. I was taught growing up that you never exceed 55 mph in 4HI, but that way of teaching may be out of date.

ok can I pose a second part to the question...it also states that you should only use 4wd if there is great potential for slipping, and that if there isnt (for example using it in the winter time, when the roads are plowed) you can do damage to the drive train, any insight into this?? I just like the comfort of having it on, and with my wj, I could keep it in 4wd 24/7 with no damage or repercussions...except the gas mileage!

Default From PDF Manual

Shifting Procedure
2H to 4H or 4H to 2H
Shifting between 2H and 4H can be made with the
vehicle stopped or in motion. If the vehicle is in motion,
shifts can be made up to 50 mph (80 km/h). With the
vehicle in motion, the transfer case will engage/
disengage faster if you momentarily release the accelerator
pedal after completing the shift. Apply a constant
force when shifting the transfer case lever.

How fast can I drive in 4WD High Range?
You should not go faster than road conditions permit.
