Grease those hinges/posts when you re-install.

That is odd, mine pop right off...once you do get them off shoot some WD-40 in the hinge.

white lithium grease on the hinge pins works better and last longer than WD-40.. you can use WD-40 sprayed in the hinges if you are having trouble removing the doors from the jeep..

J_C,

Would you please include a picture of your contramption? I have a similar "flat dolly" and was sort of thinking of using it for a similar purpose, and since it sounds like you have it figured out -- would you please show a few pics of the final product???

Thank you in advance!!

They're located in the underside of each door hinge. You might as well start taking your doors off...you're halfway there already.

WD40 is a good alternative to PIITB with the ol' lady. PB Blaster should loosen those hinges up better IMO Be generous with it, they'll make more.

Default I see, having trouble

Hey guys having a major issue with the rear doors coming off! I was able to use WD 40 with a mallet to get the pass rear off but now the driver rear wont even budge. I tried putting the nut back on the pin but now it wont go on. What should I do.. Thinking I need to remove the door with hardware and all to get the pin out and file it...

go to Home Depot and buy some ladder hangers ( x6 )...mount to 2x12 anchored to wall..pull Jeep into garage...leave windows down...remove both front doors first and hang on hangers ( one on each set of three and painted side towards wall )...move front seats all the way forward to access rear panels easier...next remove rear doors and hang on hangers ( again one on each set )

key hints
1. make sure windows are down before disconnecting harness as well as mirrors folded in
2. remove safety strap last then stand on inside of door and grab/lift from handle
3. reverse procedure when reinstalling
4. spray hinge with white lithium grease while hanging on wall in garage

i remove/install my doors about 2-3 times per week depending on amount of rain
i have this process down to under 5 min.

To remove first couple of times unhook strap and wiring and hinge pin nuts, then open door to 45 degrees with a helper holding door. place 5 or 6 foot 2x6 board between door and door jam as close to the front of door as possible and gently lift up. If it is stubborn, get floor jack and place on outer end of 2x6 start jack upward with tension and smack bottom of 2x6 with BFH while someone is holding door. It will sometimes fly up so make sure they have a firm grip on door. White lithium hinges and holes before reinstalling. Also if you are relocating your mirrors use grease to prevent them from sticking also. they will stick and it is easy to bust the plastic. i use my forearm to pop them up out of the door bracket. Easier to remove mirror before removing door...
enjoy, we sure do...

Just got them off.... after reading the floor jack thing I had an idea.....

2 jack stands
1 pine 4x4 about the length of the door

I put the jack stands up... the 4x4 on top and rocked the jeep up while sliding them under with my foot until it touched the outside lip of the bottom of the door.

Then I let the jeep roll back so that the door was resting on the 4x4 and jack stands.... then with one hand lifting (gently) on the top of the door I stood on the door sil and rocked the jeep down. Door came off instantly.... I do recommend having a buddy hold the door if you aren't sure you could curl the weight of the door one handed if you had to.

THANKS FOR THE ADVICE!

btw I think the problem was there are little nylon sleeves in the hinges that look like they have been pretty much destroyed.

1. Can these be replaced?
2. Should they be?
3. If so where can I get them?

Thanks again for the info people!
