How water resistant is a '13 jk interior?
Weve all been there, top down, flyin down a back road on a beautiful july day, and boom, it starts raining, miles from a garage our asses and beautiful JK interiors start getting soggy. My question is? How water proof are the components of the dash and other interior parts of a JK? Ive gotten my radio pretty wet and have had an inch of water on the floor haha. Also? Are there drain plugs in the front two floor areas of a Jk? If so how do you pull back the carpet? Ive been to all other plugs (and have had to use them) besides here. Also, feel free to share any other top down + rainstorm stories!

Someone here suggested leaving Wrangler outside topless for a couple of month and nothing should happened, I am not just skeptical about this suggestion. In my opinion water will destroy all possible electronics inside besides seats etc. Maybe in some dry desert it is OK, but not where I am (NJ).
Light rain one time might be OK however, that is different.

Yup other than carpet your fine. I'm the one who has my jeep topless for 8 months, Idaho is no desert. I also spray my seats and floor boards off at the spray car wash all the time, but just my input

Ran my 2007 with just a safari top and cargo net for the better part of 3 years in Hawaii. On really wet/rainy days I threw a tarp over it mostly because I didn't want to drive with soaking wet seats. Fixed that with a pair of Wet Okole seat covers.
- I pulled all the carpeting, drain plugs (front, rear, even the small ones in the back area including the one under the storage hatch) and laid down two coats of Herculiner. After that dried I reinstalled the drain plugs but they get pulled to let it drain if/when needed. I also put a Ziploc bag over the computer under the passenger seat to keep the liner off of it and just left it there.
- Yanking the carpet and spraying bed-liner and/or rolling Herculiner saves weight over carpet and completely eliminates that damp/musty smell.
Hope this helps.

This past summer I went out of state and left my soft top down. As I was having dinner one night, my brother (also a jk owner and member of this forum) texted me saying that my jeep was trashed. I called him and he said that back home they had been hit by a flash thunderstrom and he was not home to put my top up. From what he told me there was a couple inches of water and a bunch of sticks in my jeep from the wind and rain. He pulled the carpet out, plulled the plugs and let it dry out. I got home a couple days later, started it up and everything was fine. Other than the missing carpets, I never would've known that it was left out in the rain.
When I bought my '11 JKU I was a alittle skeptical about the quality of the interior for moments like this but now I feel confident that if it were to happen again (which I hope it doesnt) she will be fine. Hope this helps!
