makes sense. If you look at the gear chart, the 2012 Pentastar had a shift in required gears given tire size. The extra HP and Torgue from the Pentastar changed the gearing requirements. It also appears they are saying an automatic with 3.73 is the same as a manual with 4.10. I may be over simplifying it but that’s the impression I’ve gotten.

I should clarify, my 2012 Rubi with an automatic came with 4:10's as standard equipment.

I ordered my 12 JKR In Sept. 2011 with an automatic. 3:73 gears were standard, I paid $50.00 for the 4.10 gears. I have the AEV 2.5 lift with BFG KO2 317 70 17 tires. 4.56 would be better but not worth the expense to me. As I recall AEV uses 4.10 on their 35 builds and 4.56 with 37s.

The picture is from the 2012 buyers guide which I saved when I ordered my 2012. For rubicon, 3.73 is standard on the autos and 4.1 is standard on the manual. Also to note, the 3.73 was included on non-rubi 4 doors with the Max Tow package, which is what I ordered. At some point that changed in future years.

This is something that got redonk. I do recall hearing earlier factory gearing upgrades were dirt cheap. I think in 2013 it started being a $595 +/-upgrade. That is what I recall being charged in '13 for 3.73 gears in my sport. What a waste of money on my part as they were gone a couple years later. Almost $600 for a 1-step upgrade....lol
