I need help!
I have a small, light weight, 4x8 single axle trailer and it weighs just under 500 pounds. Your trailer probably weighs atleast 800-1000 pounds. I would not think the boat+trailer, even dry, would fall into the towing capicity of the JK at 3500 lbs. Your trailer should have the weight printed on the sticker on it. My boat trailer did. By the way, my boat had a dry weight of 2000 pounds. Wet, including the trailer it was 3450 pounds.
Just get a Hidden Hitch or Reese or whatever Class III hitch, plus whatever accessories you need...remember, the Class III hitch is rated at 5000#, so if you don't exceed that, you should be able to tow the boat...now, if the JK cannot tow more then 2000+ lbs, then I say we are at an empasse...again, the factory DC OEM hitch is Class I...that means 2000 lbs max...that's it!...and I believe the reason DC makes it a Class I is that's all the JK's can tow...2000 lbs.

They are saying the towing capacity is 3500 lbs.
Class III (bumper ball) is limited to 500 lbs
Class IV is limited to 1200 lbs.
Just checked the link and I can't link directly to the page but from here you can find it.
Select Wrangler unlimited, Sahara, 4X4, auto, w/ towing group. It goes into tongue wt. at the bottom.

That's for an 08.
Class III hitches are rated for 5000#. The stock hitch on an unlimited has to be a class II because it's rated for 3500#, which is what an unlimited can pull max. The 2 door is limited to 2000#, but we aren't talking about the 2 door here.

Yes...and when you order the towing package, it says Class I receiver on the sticker...again...limiting your towing to 2000#'s

. I would not tow it. And I would let this sink in quite a bit. The automatice tranny in my unlimited with 4.10's not pulling ANYTHING was running at well over 200* until I installed a cooler. Towing over 3500 pounds = very bad things happening to your transmission.
My mistake...meant Class II; the OEM hitch on any Wrangler is Class I...check with DC/MOPAR/Jeep site/ your dealer.
On a 2 door it is, but on an unlimited it is not. The unlimited can tow 3500#, says so on the jeep website. It is a class II on an unlimited, if it was a class I then an unlimited would only be able to tow 2000# like the 2 doors.
