Welcome back!
I'm curious...was there anything likable about the Explorer? I was looking at a base model AWD model as a family commuter wagon. Not as a Jeep replacement.

Honestly not much. Not great on mpg, interior was nice and roomy, but it just wasn't for me. Then like I said it ended up have some transmission problems as well. But it did fit my wife and 3 kids in with room to spare. Just a little to "family wagon" for me. Plus my kids love our jeeps.

over the years I learned that even wit hthe qwirks and such that Jeeps have, theres just really nothing like it....
I have tried for some reason not having a jeep, and usually i make it till the first big snowfall or until the first warm sunny day when someone drives by with the top and doors off... yeah within days im back at my Dealer buying a Jeep..

Congrats on getting back in a Jeep. Not to hijack but my wife has a '14 XLT explorer, its our family commuter wagon. In my opinion its a nice vehicle, not for any kind of offroading but good for family trips/vacations/getting kids around. Drives smooth, no problems with our explorer so far (currently at 9K). Took it up to Lake Tahoe this winter, did great in the snow.
