Default Important: Clutch recall

For anyone who doesn't know,

There's a service bulletin currently out to have the clutch replaced due to a constant clicking noise while the engine runs or creaking sound when you clutch.

I just found out today at the dealership and am getting a replacement tomorrow morning.

** This is only valid up to 12,000 miles even with a 36,000 mile warranty.

Sorry if someone already brought this up somewhere, thought it'd be worth repeating.

Its a TSB not a recall. We had ours done two weeks ago. The clutch feels completely different now, much smoother. Our dealer did ours at 16670 miles without a question. Sasquatch had his done too and I think he was over the 12,000 mile mark. I think its worth taking it in and try for warranty, even if you are over the 12K mark. When I took mine in, I didnt even mention the warranty. I told them the symtoms and they checked it out, looked up the TSB's, ordered the parts, and scheduled it to be done. It also helped that they had seen the same problem in other jeeps before mine. They knew it was a factory issue and not something the customer caused.

TSBs

Is this for 2007s and 2008s? Do they charge you if you are over 12k miles? I think I am just under 12k.

As far as I know it is for both. They definitely will not charge you under 12K, but my dealer didnt charge us and ours was over.

Mine started doing it AFTER I did the Squeaky clutch TSB. Now it does squeek, it sounds like rocks are in it when I slightly press the clutch

thats not the same TSB as this one, this is the entire clutch. Mine is over 12k and they did it about 3 weeks ago with no questions asked along with a car rental for a couple days. Works like a charm now just as bly109 described.

I'm printing a copy of this thread and taking it to my dealer. I just took it there two weeks ago for the ticking transmission... said it was the clutch freewheeling

The day after I bought it the clutch was squeaking when I depressed it... dealer said it was normal.

It goes in for the 12k checkup tomorrow morning. I'm gonna bring this up. I'm madder than a hornet's nest now.

Edit: This is probably a dumb question but where can you find the TSB's?

Does the ticking and or squeal go away as soon as you depress the clutch a hair? If so, then the TSB's probably apply. Also mine was only ticking when it was hot, but I had the squeal all the time when the clutch was out
