Default Inside - Front windshield view - Pics Please

Hey all,

Was driving down the road the other day and had a rock get kicked up in front of me, and *wham* right into the windshield. Needless to say, it put a pretty sizable crack in the windshield.

Insurance covered it, and the guy came to replace the windshield while I was at work (jeep was at home with wife).

When i took it out for the first time today since the windshield was replaced, I'm getting a whistle from the wind. I've reseated the hardtop panels and it hasn't seemed to make a difference, so i am convinced it's the seal on the windshield.

My question is though, when looking at it from the inside, it just doesn't look right. I'm not sure if it's just because I've never looked at it that close from the inside, but It seems that there should be a rubber seal on the inside frame of the windshield.. I could be wrong though.

Anybody care to take a picture of the inside of their windshield for me? I'm looking for a pic of the bottom of the glass (right above the dash) in the center of the windshield..

Can somebody do that for me? LoL. I might just be paranoid.

Thanks,
-BJ

Just took a look at mine and dont see any seal at all. Would take a pic but camera is at work. Looks like the windshield in just glued/sealant in there. No rubber seal to be seen.

No conventional rubber seal involved. A bead of adhesive is applied to the glass before installation. If the whistling is coming from the glass, maybe the bead of adhesive is not continuous. If it started out continuous, and a door was slammed shut before it cured, (all windows up), a shot of air could have compromised the bead. That could be what is whistling.

I had my windshield replaced and also had the whistle afterwards. The gap from the top of the glass to the metal frame is what's causing the whistle. You need to call them and have them reset it.

Reset it. That doesn't sound good. I bet they don't like coming out to do that.

If you are talking about at the bottom, there is nothing, and it seems as if there should be. Some people just buy some 1/2 inch foam wrap/tubing, like for covering a copper pipe, and cut it to size.

Hope that helps.
