I'm installing my new gibson exhaust and am having a hard time removing the stock exhaust from the rubber grommets. Anyone else have this issue or and good advice. I have sprayed them down with wd40 but still can't get them to pull through.

 

take a peice of twine pass it throught rubber then wind the outer end around the metal knuckle about ten time then unwind the other end the pressure will make it pop off as you unwind the string.

 

I had a similar issue when I removed my stock exhaust to put on a cat-back system. If it's the same hangar that's giving you beef (one of the back ones, near the bumper - maybe not the last one, but the one just before that? if I recall correctly...) I was told by an auto-tech at the on-post facility where I was wrenching, that I could just cut off the hangar and pull it through instead of trying to yank it out with the exhaust - after all, I was only throwing away the stock unit anyway. But, I didn't feel like spending more time cutting it off w/a hack-saw, so I just "volunteered" another Soldier working on his car in the bay next to me and we put our scrumf into it and yanked it out. Stubborn little SOB but it did come out. Cutting the metal hangar then pulling it through likely would have been easier - but it felt good to "win".

 

Finally got it on. I took a hack saw to the stock hanger. I was completely done trying to wiggle it free. But the gibson sounds world's different and amazing.

 

I think everyone can agree, we need to hear it!
