All easy to fix with 2 hose clamps and 8" springs. Less than $5 and it's gone.

I had put grease in the boot three times. It's effectiveness had just about gone away. The first time it lasted about six months, the second time about three and the last time about a month.

I have also replaced the tie rod ends, ball joints, upgraded to the grade 8 bolts, put on dual Bilstien steering stabilizers, installed AEV control arm brackets, installed Teraflex monster trac bar, etc. I am running 2.5" MetalCloak Coils on a 4dr.

I am really tired of feeling like something is always loose in the steering on this POS. That is why I decided to fork out the cash to replace the shaft. I want to know when something else is starting to go and I can't feel anything else when that shaft was always rattling around. BTW, I am still running stock wheels/tires since I do not feel comfortable enough to put anything heavier on it yet. I have done everything under the sun to eliminate the steering issues, but I guarantee if I take those Bilstiens off and hit some RR tracks at 45mph, I will get the death wobble. I have been dealing with issue since it was stock, and been hoping one of these heavy duty parts would have solved it by now. I can still tell the only thing keeping it from happening again is the SS. I can feel them dampening out the wobble everytime I hit a pothole or a set of tracks. The next item that I am going to throw at it is a sector shaft brace and TB frame side re-enforcement bracket. I am trying to find one that will work with the TF Monster TB.

That is why I paid for the new shaft, I don't like it loose and I cannot tell when there is a new issue.

Thanks Tasca.

Does anyone have any idea when the AE started being used in production or at least when it became available? I'm guessing mine built 07/11 has an AB version. Not home to check.

Any updates on this rev of the Steering intermediate shaft? I'm ready to replace mine in my 2012 JKUR.
Also - any promo codes?

Thanks.

I swapped a low mileage take-off into my high mileage wrangler and felt very minimal difference. I repacked my splines with grease and it's back to 'normal' now. I would be hard pressed to put out $180 on a new one when the culprit is usually elsewhere.

I did the "grease inside the boot boogie" on my '09 about seven years ago when the knock first appeared. Knock went away and has never returned.

Do you have more details on that? I've got a little mig machine and I don't mind burning up.
