Default iPod on 2012 JK

Hi

I have a 2012 JK sahara on order uk spec.

I've ordered the u connect sat nav only because until today I thought it was the only way to run an iPod. The STD equipment is the uconnect radio and phone.

Does the jk come with a usb port in the central console?

On some other forums older posts say this system is unreliable? Has this been fixed? Plan on using my old 5th gen iPod. If you use the USB to run your iPod are you happy with it?

If I can cancel the sat nav that will save me $2000 and some of that I can out towards leather seats.

Thanks

Paul

Not sure as I'm in US but I got the connectivity group but base stereo (130). My iPhone 4 works as does my 1 year old nano BUT my classic 20GB iPod does not get recognized. This is through the USB interface.

In the US (don't want to guarantee anything I'm not positive about), you only need to order the connectivity to get the USB port in the center console. I can't comment specifically on your 5th gen ipod. My 3rd gen itouch seemed to be recognized fine, my brother's 2nd gen itouch was not.

Wrong.

My 2011 Rubicon had a USB port for my iPod, just like my 2012 Rubicon does.

You don't need the high dollar nav system just to get the USB port to run the iPod and you can do anythng with the system for the iPod also. The only non-button control is using VR to say "shuffle on" or "shuffle off".

Well I have a 2011 with the 730N and it has the USB in the center console. I have tried my 2nd gen Touch and didn't work, but my 2nd gen nano seemed to work fine. Best of all it works with MP3s on a thumb drive and my android phone's SD card. Although I use the bluetooth feature to stream music from the phone most of the time.

Connectivity group has the USB port in the center console and it is available on all JK trim levels even the base model with the steel wheels. It does require the satelite radio option on those trims that do not already have it. It also gets the chrome shift knob, leather wrapped steering wheel, and extra functionality out of the onboard JK computer. It was first available in 2011.

Any other replies?

I spoke to my uk dealer this afternoonb and they had no idea? Resorted to calling Chrysler in the uk and they were pretty hopeless also.

Also trying to get leather seats fitted but I'm just faced with confused people.

Right off the window sticker of my 2012 Rubicon:
Customer Preferred Package 24R
Connectivity Group $385
Remote USB port
Electronic Vehicle Information Center
Uconnect Voice Command with Bluetooth

You do not have to order the NAV system to get the USB port.
