Jeep 3.8 Engine Swap
Hey guys,
Thanks to everyone who tried to help find out my engine ticking noise last post. Anyways, I decided to just go ahead and swap a new motor in. I am getting it for 1400 and it has 70k miles on it from a shop that does LS and Hemi swaps. Does anyone have and advice, tips, or links to places that could help guide me through the swap? I've got a pretty good idea, but would not say no to more guidance. Does AllData or Haynes have anything regarding replacing a 3.8 motor?
Thanks!

Going from a 3.8L to a 3.6L is not too difficult. But you'd have to replace the wiring harnesses and jeeps computer. However I'm not certain if the transmissions would need to be swapped also. Taking a guess, I'd say you'd have to add a trans from a 3.6L also

I think maybe you misinterpreted the post. OP is swapping 3.8L for another 3.8L, or at least that is how I read it.

Following for when my time comes. I was at a shop recently where a customer was in there paying for his rebuilt 3.8 swap. I thought I overheard them saying the bill was $1,800 all-in with a 1 year warranty

All I can offer is when you remove the old engine do not throw anything away and when removing do not chop lines or wiring in case you need something later on. Be very careful removing the bottom of the air cleaner as there are tabs on there that hold it to the body and they break off easy. Lift straight and wiggle it gently.
